Did you know that a nursing mom has to relieve herself more than a non pregnant/nursing one.
Why am I posting at such an hour? You need to monitor the pups to make sure they are latched on firmly and eating vigorously. Their little tails lift up when they are eating up a storm. The Wasabi pups are doing just that.
You also want to make sure no one gets stuck behind mom. It's important when they are small to make sure they eat well. This means rotating the small ones to the nipples that are producing the most.
We weigh the pups twice a day to give us an idea how they are doing. We also handle them right from the start to get them used to a human touch.
The pups are travelling across the whelping box depending on what is motivating them - getting cooler, finding mom and latching on. This is the stage of it doesn't look like they are doing much but they are. It's the first stage of their little lives and for us, it's exciting!
